How-to
At adgrow.io we develop an entire marketing strategy for the brands we manage. And as in any marketing strategy, legal and compliance issues are critical elements that help run business smoothly, effectively, and with a little less stress - as much as possible in our industry. As we always aim at establishing strong long-term partnerships with our advertisers and affiliates and compliance helps us with that.
The first layer of protection is the application process that we take very seriously. Let’s say we are keeping a strong front door that prevents less conscious affiliates from being approved. To avoid partnering with toxic business partners, we take time to get to know every affiliate.
• We conduct individual interviews
• Run a thorough background check based on the KYC (know your client) form
(it often includes checking a partner for ongoing litigations, sanctions, financial accounts, jurisdictions of registry, etc.)
• We also keep a pulse on our current partners' activities to make sure they follow our compliance criteria on every level
Affiliates are always continuing to evolve - not only in finding new funnels and traffic sources, but in the non-compliant practices as well. Sometimes such non-compliance may not be even clear to an affiliate. Thus, monitoring compliance is integral for a successful marketing strategy.
Compliance helps to protect the brand from knowingly or unknowingly breaking policy or program rules. It also protects you against affiliate behaviours that can lead to hefty privacy or government regulation fines, financial risk, or even brand misrepresentation.
Once we start working with a new partner, we share our compliance guide with them. The guide covers compliance measures, traffic sources, creative criteria, and many other aspects in a very detailed way. All the rules and recommendations in our guide are built around our core compliance principles:
* But of course, some additional compliance requirements may apply, legal stuff you know.
Let’s see how it works on a few abstract examples. Let’s say you are running ads for electronics shop and need to boost the sales of a vacuum cleaner model that has not been selling that good.

We use third-party tools and anti-fraud technology and combine it with our team’s extensive experience. We also rely on the analytics team and their data to identify anomalies quickly.
Once the compliance team notices violations, an automatic alert is sent to the affiliate with directions to fix them.
Our team also constantly follows laws and policies from the regulators like the Federal Trade Commission to update our policies and communicate them to our affiliates to ensure everything is aligned with the requirements.
Generally, all compliance-related communication is managed by affiliate managers, who communicate with partners directly. In case you need additional help or clarifications on your case, you can always ask a manager to connect you with compliance.
